I remember the first time I encountered Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I was thirteen years old and the show had already finished. One day I was bored and flipping through channels when I saw a glimpse of Angel. The series seemed interesting but I kept changing channels until I realized there was nothing else that caught my attention. So I searched for the series that I didn’t even know how it was called. From that moment on my life changed and I became an instant fan. Curiously the series was made for a teen audience and at that time I was.

A few months ago I finished watching another rerun without even realizing that I was just in time to celebrate its 20th anniversary. I’ve made a list of a couple of my favorite episodes throughout the series. Check it out and let me know if you agree.

  • Season 1 Episode 6: The Pack

Poor Xander, its becoming a habit of his to have bad timing and get into the weirdest troubles. And also poor Herbert the pig, what a tragic death.

  • Season 2 Episode 3: School Hard

We meet Spike and Drusilla for the first time. They are the best unconventional couple. She is the insane vampire and he has the bad boy attitude going on. What’s not to love?

  • Season 3 Episode 9: The Wish

Who didn’t enjoy this episode? Willow and Xander as vamps: Totally awesome! This episode reveals so much about what will happen in the future especially with Willow’s character. It is also the first appearance of Anya, another beloved character.

  • Season 4 Episode 9: Something Blue

Watching Buffy and Spike together was so prophetic. Its funny but you have a feeling that they might end up together although not as cheerful.  Xander’s curse of being an evil magnet was very accurate. And then there is little Willow, unaware of all the power she possesses.

  • Season 5 Episode 22: The Gift

Although it’s a sad episode, The Gift shows what the true life of a slayer is: sacrifice. There are pain, love, and resignation.

  • Season 6 Episode 22: Grave

Willow, after creating a near-apocalyptic event, ends up being stopped and consoled by her longtime friend Xander. This is the episode that strongly show’s Xander’s power: true and unconditional friendship. His kind heart and loyalty are what keeps the gang together.

  • Season 7 Episode 16: Storyteller

After everything that is going on throughout this season, this episode is refreshing. Andrew has an insane but vivid imagination. He tries to fit in and prove himself helpful although he doesn’t succeed. He is the current comic relief character after Xander has matured and become a man of responsibilities.

There are many more episodes that I liked and enjoyed but picked these. Comment below some of your favorite episodes. It’s possible that I will agree because the series is AWESOME.
